Editing Film sequences

Know that we have recorded all the scenes for the opening of the film sequence, we have started to edit them as we only have one week before it needs to be finished.

Filming in the toilet

In the opening sequence of the film there are flash backs which show Megi sorting her tie out making it look like she is getting ready for school. We filmed in the toilet because it had a mirror which Megi could use to look at herself. We used the camera in a clever way because we recorded her looking in the camera while she was sirting her hair and tie out. This makes the viewers feel that she is looking in the mirror.



Megi is waiting for Zarah to set and position the camera.

You can see in this picture that Megi is looking in the camera while she is acting the scene.

Filming Basement Scene

Today we recorded the basement scene where Megi gets tortured. She bes ties to a chair and wakes up in shock becasue she does not know where she is. After a while her abuser comes to finish where he left. The sequence ends with the girl panting and the sound of a shot gun. Originally we wanted to use the theatre because it of the lighting facilities available there which would make the scene look gloomy and dak but unfortuantely the theatre was busy. So we recorded this scene in one of the drama rooms. Luckily the drama room had props such as, curtains, ropes, boxes, cradle, wooden chair etc, we placed these props specific positions so it could create a basement atmosphere. Because we had no lighting we got a lamp and put it on the side near Megi to make it look like there is light shining on her face.

We are setting the scene to make it look like a basement. We used the curtains for the backgorund so when we recorded the scene it would give a gloomy effect. We placed the wooden chair at an angle so all the scene could be captured by the camera.

We have used black chalk on Megis arm to show she has got a bruise because of being totured.



We are tieing Megi to the chair which shows that the abuser has left her tied to the chair so she cant escape as he is going to return.



Sir is helping us to tie the rope to make sure it is tied to the chair properly.



We have put blood marks on Megis face and kneck using paint to show that she has been seriously injured.



After giving Megi a makeover to make it look like she is in a basement and has got abused this is how she looked.



We also taped her mouth which added extra emphasis to the scene as it meant she could not talk.



We are setting the camera on a trolley so pan around Megi using a smooth shot.



As you can see the lamp is shining on Megi which adds a touch to the gloomy, dark surroundings.





This is me and Sonya standing on top of a box to record the abuser walking towards Megi. Standing on the box meant that we could get a high angle shot of his feet.

Scene structure

Scene 1: Black screen fades into the girl (Megi):

The starts with an establishing shot, where the girl is sitting tied to a chair waking up after being to totured by the abuser.

Scene 2: Fades into a flash back:

There is a flashback of the girl walking to school while she is talking on her mobile phone.

Scene 3: Screen fades back to the girl:

The camera uses high angle focusing on the girls injuries, like the blood and bruises on her face, arm and kneck.

Scene 4: Flash back:

The scene fades into another flashback of the girl going into school.

Scene 5: Fades back to the girl:

The camera zooms into Megi showing her feeling pain

Scene 6: Flashback of the girl:

There is a flashback of the girl getting resdy for school.

Scene 7: screen shows girl

Camera pans around Megi as she islooking vulnerable and trying to escape.

Scene 8: Abuser approaches Megi:

The camera uses a high angle focusing on the abusers walking towards megi. He says "Know where was I"? in a harsh tone.

Costume testing

This is Megi trying her costume on which is the school uniform to check that it fits her. In these pictures she is wearing a skirt but when we actually shoot the scene she will be wearing black trousers.

Treatment

The genre we chose to base our opening sequence on is thriller/horror .The opening sequence is going to be about a school girl called Megi (victim) who gets kidnapped by a boy who is psychologically disturbed. she struggles to escape but is trapped under his authority

The opening of the film starts of by showing flashbacks of Megi (victim) walking to school and sorting her tie out in the toilet. whilst the flashbacks are showing she will be in a dark room where she will be tied to a chair. she will have tape on her mouth with bruises and scars on her kneck, face and arms to show that she has been harmed. There will be a spotlight on her so we can see her as she is struggling to escape. also the spotlight will add suspense and tension to thw scene. afetr a while the pscho boy will approach her and take the tape of her mouth. this is weher the sequence will end leaving viewers at a cliff hanger to think about what he is going to do to her.

The camera will zoom out of her face as she wakes up focusing on her bruises and scars. While she is panicking and trying to escape the camera will pan around her and show us a view from her point of view. when the by appraches her a side shot will be used showing his legs and back and megi's face.
