Filming Basement Scene

Today we recorded the basement scene where Megi gets tortured. She bes ties to a chair and wakes up in shock becasue she does not know where she is. After a while her abuser comes to finish where he left. The sequence ends with the girl panting and the sound of a shot gun. Originally we wanted to use the theatre because it of the lighting facilities available there which would make the scene look gloomy and dak but unfortuantely the theatre was busy. So we recorded this scene in one of the drama rooms. Luckily the drama room had props such as, curtains, ropes, boxes, cradle, wooden chair etc, we placed these props specific positions so it could create a basement atmosphere. Because we had no lighting we got a lamp and put it on the side near Megi to make it look like there is light shining on her face.

We are setting the scene to make it look like a basement. We used the curtains for the backgorund so when we recorded the scene it would give a gloomy effect. We placed the wooden chair at an angle so all the scene could be captured by the camera.

We have used black chalk on Megis arm to show she has got a bruise because of being totured.



We are tieing Megi to the chair which shows that the abuser has left her tied to the chair so she cant escape as he is going to return.



Sir is helping us to tie the rope to make sure it is tied to the chair properly.



We have put blood marks on Megis face and kneck using paint to show that she has been seriously injured.



After giving Megi a makeover to make it look like she is in a basement and has got abused this is how she looked.



We also taped her mouth which added extra emphasis to the scene as it meant she could not talk.



We are setting the camera on a trolley so pan around Megi using a smooth shot.



As you can see the lamp is shining on Megi which adds a touch to the gloomy, dark surroundings.





This is me and Sonya standing on top of a box to record the abuser walking towards Megi. Standing on the box meant that we could get a high angle shot of his feet.
