Evaluation Q4

The main target audience for my media product is going to be elder teenagers and young adults, as they are more fascinated by horror and thriller movies because they like the dramatisation, blood, violence and suspense it creates. Thriller movies are more for an audience that have the ability and key skills to analyse a situation, thinking about who the criminals are how the problem will be solved and young adults do have these analytical skills.  

My opening film sequence is most likely to target a younger audience because the actors in it are teenagers. When we thought of creating a film sequence to do with horror/thriller, we asked students and teachers what they thought of our treatment and if they would watch our film. Majority said that they like horror and thriller because it creates suspense and draws their attention. A minority said that they do not watch horror movies because they get frightened really easily. This was positive feedback for use as it told us who our target audience could be. This meant that our film would not be targeted at a niche audience because there is a large population of young audiences out there.

As well as their being the main target audience there is also the secondary audience who the film is not targeted specifically at but they may still watch it out of interest. So my film may also catch the attention of adult audiences like action movie watchers as this genre relates to thriller I terms of the energy, adults may watch it because their children who are the target audience may tell there parents that it is a good movie or they may watch it together as a family movie.   

The typical audience for our thriller film should look something along the lines of the image displayed above. They should be extrovert as thriller is related to fast pace movement, a lot of action, upbeat music and these need to reflect the audience’s strong, energetic personalities as shown in the image above. The typical audience for a thriller wears clothes that are vibrant, colourful and full of energy which reflects the momentum this genre. Girls that like the thriller genre for films are likely to have stylish but scruffy hair showing they have an edge, similar to how thriller movies always have something spontaneous about them. Boys that like the thriller genre in films are likely to have spiked hair which looks styled but the spikes give it an edge which gives them a stronger appearance. The audiences most preferred music genre is expected to be rap and R’n’B.
